The International X-ray Absorption Society (IXAS) represents all
those working on the fine structure associated with inner shell excitation (near edge
and extended) by various probes (e.g. x-rays and electrons), and related
techniques for which the data is interpreted on the same physical basis.
The former name of the society, until july 2007, was IXS (International
XAFS society). The name and acronym changed following an unanymous
decision of the Executive Committee, and those new names will
replace the original ones in all the official documents and
activities.
The purpose of the IXAS is to oversee activities which benefit the community as a whole, to establish operational committees, to provide for education in the field, to disseminate relevant information, to work with other related regional, national and professional organizations in promoting and developing XAS and related disciplines, and to act as representative for the community to other professional organizations.
Membership in the IXAS is open to anyone working in the field, including students, upon their formal application.
Please note that www.i-x-s.org is the official URL of the IXAS. Do not use other obsolete URLs. Old contents selected from the old IXS (IXAS) web site are still available here.
This website is currently managed by the XAS group in Camerino (Italy), under the responsibility of A. Di Cicco.
